Every great adventure has a beginning.

Ours started in 2024 with a blind date in Winchester, Virginia.

What was supposed to be a casual evening turned into five unforgettable hours of laughter, great conversation, and a few glasses of wine. By the end of the night, we both knew there had to be a second date.

It didn't take long to discover that we shared the same passion for the outdoors and a life filled with adventure. Whether it's hiking mountain trails, camping beneath the stars, skiing fresh powder, paddling quiet rivers, cycling scenic backroads, boating across open water, or simply chasing another beautiful sunset, we feel most at home outside.

We married in 2026, and our adventures have only grown from there.

Jennifer's love of the outdoors began while living in Colorado and attending Colorado State University, where the Rocky Mountains became her playground. Doug attended the United States Naval Academy before serving our country as a United States Marine Corps helicopter pilot for 27 years, a career that took him across the world and strengthened his appreciation for exploration, resilience, and the incredible places this planet has to offer.

Today, our travels include two very important companions—Jennifer's adventure cats, Puma and Papi—who have become experienced road-trip partners and campground explorers in their own right.

When we're not traveling, you'll usually find us high in the mountains of West Virginia, where we enjoy sweeping views, exploring local history, attending community theatre productions, spending weekends with family at the lake, and planning our next adventure.

When winter arrives, we trade mountain mornings for the warm waters of Florida's Gulf Coast, where life slows down just enough for sailing, cycling, waterfront sunsets, and the occasional night out enjoying great food and live music.

We created We Roam Adventures to inspire others to get outside, explore more, and discover the incredible places that often lie just beyond the next bend in the trail—or around the next corner on the map.

This website is our journal, our photography gallery, our travel guide, and our way of sharing honest experiences from life on the road and on the water. We'll share destination guides, hiking adventures, camping tips, wildlife encounters, photography, hidden history, gear we've tested, and the unforgettable moments that remind us why we keep exploring.
